Job Summary

The DC OPEX Leader will lead the OPEX team and work alongside the distribution center leadership team to drive efficiency through labor planning, process improvements, project management and implementing productivity projects. This will be accomplished within the framework of the ongoing implementation of lean initiatives with a focus on meeting gross productivity targets. Responsibilities will also include improving safety through process design, continuous improvement, maintenance of the DC’s labor management system, DC reporting and slotting while monitoring results of identified productivity initiatives. This position will support three DC’s and areas of focus will include receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, loading, labor standards and automation.

Job Duties

  • Identify, lead, and facilitate process improvement projects

  • Responsible for creating, communicating, and implementing the DC slotting plan

  • Create, update, and summarize projects in the productivity tracker monthly

  • Create and update projects in the corporate capital tracker

  • Create, modify, and document all DC processes (SOP’s)

  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to safety culture, quality policy, customer focus, and continuous improvement best practices

  • Implement process flow improvement projects

  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine processes, staff requirements, and production standards

  • Create training material and programs for DC teams as it relates to automation and process improvement initiatives

  • Work with facility and automation engineering teams along with DC personnel to review and improve upon repetitive work processes

  • Maintain labor management system by creating standards, performing time studies, updating rates, and adding/modifying new or existing processes

  • Build and maintain reporting documents that aid in implementation and tracking against key performance indicators (KPI’s)

  • Provide structured and creative analysis to identify performance improvement opportunities and effectively communicate findings with DC associates and leadership

  • Manage special projects as identified and assigned

Requirements / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related Engineering fields, Supply Chain Management or Logistics

  • Green Belt Certification preferred

  • 3-5 years of related experience in a distribution center or manufacturing setting with experience leading teams, continuous improvement, project management, and process flow

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting distribution or manufacturing disciplines such as; lean manufacturing and Kaizen

  • Experience with various distribution technologies including labor management, automation, and warehouse management systems

  • Strong understanding of logistic process flows and proven ability to identify and correct bottlenecks/constraints in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong PC skills including Windows, Word, Excel and SPC applications

  • Excellent verbal, written and technical communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

  • Proficient with computer and information technology (preferred: PkMS, SAP, LMS)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to develop, implement and analyze reporting metrics, productivity reports, as well as analyzing failure and problem resolution

  • Works collaboratively at all levels of the organization

  • Proven track record of results in a fast changing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with loud noise and wear proper PPE

  • Able to lift, push, carry and pull up to 50 lbs

  • Walking up to 50% of the time on a warehouse/manufacturing floor

  • Ability to meet physical requirements including a variety of standing, sitting and walking
