TITLE: Demand Planner


REPORTS TO: Director, Demand Planning


The Demand Planner is a highly visible, cross-functional role that works with a variety of customer-facing teams within the organization. The Demand Planner has exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities, an understanding of the importance of demand planning to the supply chain, and a fervent desire to meet customer requests on time and in full. The Demand Planner focuses on SKU-level forecasting for multiple customers while continually fostering and enhancing the relationships with these customers.


  • Create, manage and improve SKU-level forecasts for multiple e-commerce and retail customers.

  • Meet periodically with trade and sales partners to challenge forecast assumptions and revise and develop customer forecasts as necessary.

  • Track the demand plan and resolve and/or validate material discrepancies.

  • Drive toward and beyond the organization’s forecast accuracy goals for given customer assignments.

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure customer timelines are met within the limitations of supplier capacity & lead times.

  • Utilize SAP’s reporting and alert system to monitor customers’ forecast accuracy and recognize trends and patterns.

  • Analyze retail point of sale and on hand inventory data to understand their impact on the demand plan.

  • Gain an understanding of market growth and competitive market share and use this knowledge to project a range of high, medium and low forecasts outcomes for key customer accounts.

  • Drive statistical forecasts accuracy by adjusting sales order history, manipulating item profiles, and selecting the appropriate level of aggregation/disaggregation for a given forecast record.

  • Liaise with marketing, purchasing and trade marketing to drive completion of customer-specific material requests prior to the need to order supply.

  • Assist other demand planners to solve forecasting challenges within their customer portfolios.


  • A minimum of two years of supply chain planningexperience in a consumer packaged goods environment.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics,operations management or a related field from an accredited university.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (e.g. conditional formatting,VLOOKUPS, data visualization, pivot tables, if-then statements, and formulawriting) and experience with other Microsoft Office suite products.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.

  • The ability to work independently and identify andresolve complex problems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


  • Experience with SAP and APO.
