Newell Brands Production Planner - Yankee Candle in Whately, Massachusetts

Position Title: Production Planner

Location: South Deerfield, MA

Reports To: Senior Planning Manager

Job Summary:

Develop the schedule for the production of finished goods or the time phased delivery schedule of purchased finished products to establish the Sequence and/or lead time of each operation to meet customer demand. Determine the optimal level of production and/or purchase in order to maximize manufacturing efficiencies, minimize raw and finished goods. Inventories and meets/exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparesdaily and/or weekly production/purchase schedules that maximize both YCC'Soverall customer service objectives and manufacturing/logistics efficiencieswhile minimizing inventory levels, Obsolescence and/or write off products andmaterials.

  • Workswith manufacturing management in planning and executing production schedules tominimize cost of goods sold; delivers agreed upon objectives, completes specialprojects, develops capabilities and functionalities IE overall equipmenteffectiveness, shrink, scrap and obsolescence, economic run lengths/quantities,scrap reduction, and lean practices in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Supports/assistsin the development, implementation and maintenance of shop floor schedulingprocesses and procedures.

  • Determinesraw materials and/or finished goods demand to meet the weeklyproduction/shipment schedule.

  • Initiates/executespurchasing process to place orders with YCC authorized vendors.

  • Maintainsraw material or purchase order status through direct contact with vendors andutilizing internal systems and resolve issues.

  • Assists/supportsproject managers with the development and planning processes for new productintroductions.

  • Workswith supply chain, financial, and business unit personnel in the areas ofdiscontinued products and leftover raw materials and, on an overall basis,inventory obsolescence and write-offs.

  • Assistsin the analysis and development of long term production, purchase, capacity,and labor plans.

  • Supportall additional business analysis as it related to the flawless execution of thedemand and production planning process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • APICS certification is preferred but not required

  • 3-5 years of production planning/purchasing materials management experience in a manufacturing environment.
