Newell Brands Manufacturing Manager in Reedsburg, Wisconsin

POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Manager

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

LOCATION: Reedsburg, WI

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the implementation and oversight of manufacturing, Lean systems, and continuous improvement programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and implement operating policies and procedures that ensure plant performance goals, safety and quality standards are achieved.

  • Maximize production efficiency, product flow, machine run time, and scrap reduction.

  • Lead, develop and maintain Lean program and practices in the production facility.

  • Proactively identify and implement productivity savings projects to reduce costs of goods.

  • Plan and manage the manufacturing budget and all variances.

  • Optimize production resources to improve service, reduce cost and ensure product delivery.

  • Support negotiation of the Union bargaining agreement, administer operations within the agreement, and maintain constructive relations with the Union.

  • Work cross functionally with engineering, QA, Facilities, Finance and Supply chain to ensure good communications within the operations group.

  • Support all manufacturing related capital projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • All job functions to be completed in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, company guidelines and policies.

REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION LEVEL:

Required: Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration or related field. Must have a strong background in Lean programs.

Preferred: Strong knowledge of ERP systems related to manufacturing execution. Green belt preferred. SAP experience a plus but not mandatory.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum of five years manufacturing and supervision experience gained from increasingly challenging and responsible positions. Demonstrated leadership to effectively coach, develop, and challenge direct and indirect reports. Experience in high volume manufacturing, assembly, or automated manufacturing processes. Strong experience implementing and supporting manufacturing disciplines such as Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen.

Preferred: Experience in a union environment. Experience in plastic molding, assembly and packaging.

  • Ability to develop and deliver training in a variety of settings. (classroom, one-on-one, small groups)

  • Ability to generate innovative solutions to situations.

  • Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals.

  • Skilled in technical writing skills (policies, procedures, etc.)

  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying and explaining laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.

  • Skilled in providing customer service.

  • Skilled in use of personal computer and related software applications.

  • Skilled in ERP system functions for manufacturing execution. SAP preferred.

  • Knowledge of plastic injection and blow molding and assembly and packaging operations.
