POSITION TITLE: Associate Engineer

REPORTS TO : Engineering Leader

LOCATION: Reedsburg, WI

POSITION SUMMARY: Manage work instructions and work instruction templates from creation phase through obsolescence phase for the Engineering and Manufacturing departments. Post the work instructions on the intranet for employees to view. Work with the Engineering department to create labels, label templates and any printed bag templates required for component to finished good levels to support the Project Approval Form (PAF) process. Manage decorating graphic files from file creation to file obsolescence to support manufacturing and train front-line employees on screen printing and pad printing equipment and techniques.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and route Quality Standards Work Instructions (QSWIs) for approval as required to support production and the production engineers for new product launches as well as product refreshes.

  • Create detailed work instructions for new equipment that can be used for training personnel on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

  • Work with Marketing/Graphics personnel to get graphics for new products, assign and log a graphic number and make screen separations and laminated copies for personnel to reference.

  • Adjust graphics as requested after sample review by Marketing personnel.

  • Route inks and other associated decorating chemicals for approval before use and for proper disposal methods.

  • Print sample products on pad printers or screen printer and send to Marketing as needed for approval of printed graphics.

  • Support new product development by leading the PIN request form submission review, logging the information into the Master Project Log and logging the information into the Master Material Create Form.

  • Maintain PAF project log and lead bi-weekly meeting.

  • Create folders for new PAF’s and supporting documentation on the New Material Setup SharePoint site.

  • Setup PAF number and information on the intranet NUK USA PCR site for electronic assignment and tracking of PAF routings.

  • Create and maintain master carton label templates using Bartender Software and SAP barcode information.

  • Create and maintain printed bag templates for product lines that are packaged in printed bags.

  • Utilize on Pallet software for determining SAP TI/HI information for work instructions or work with the Packaging Engineering team to get the TI/HI information.

  • Utilize TI/HI information for calculating the Pallet qty information for SAP.

  • Create and maintain sign templates for the facility for work center #’s, recycling, etc..

  • Lead the Validation Log and perform validations of Labor/Rate/Line setups with Production Engineers as needed to validate work instruction information.

  • Attend weekly PIN/PAF/OBS meeting.

  • Support PEAK PACS as requested.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • All job functions to be completed in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, company guidelines and policies.

REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Required: High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.

  • Preferred: Associates Degree in a related business field. Working knowledge of SAP.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: Minimum of one-year experience in an Administrative Assistant job role. Internship and Co-op experience counts as work experience.

  • Preferred: Minimum of one-year experience in engineering, manufacturing, or product printing environment. Internship and Co-op experience counts as work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

  • Ability to generate innovative solutions to situations.

  • Ability to organize and coordinate activities across functional departments.

  • Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals.

  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.

  • Skilled in use of personal computer and related software applications; particularly Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and SAP.

  • Basic knowledge of pad printing, screen printing, inks, plastic molding, assembly and packaging operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand/walk up to 50% of the shift and lift up to 30 pounds

  • Must be able to frequently bend and twist and have unrestricted use of upper extremities

  • Push/Pull up to 100 pounds of force
