Job Title: Senior Accountant – Corporate Accounting

Location: Norwalk, CT

Reports to: Director- Finance

Responsible for accounting and reporting, primarily in areas related to acquisitions, divestitures and other special transactions.


  • Execute on accounting and reporting for integration and divestiture activities and special transactions

  • Assist in developing opening and closing period financial statements and related reporting

  • Assess and map general ledger structures to the consolidation system and gather required financial data for reporting and valuations

  • Create required journal entries into the general ledger and consolidation system

  • Reconcile opening and closing reported information to supporting documents and the general ledger and consolidation systems

  • Review financial projections and assist with business valuation activities for property, plant and equipment as well as intangible assets

  • Analyze due diligence material to understand company background and financial projections

  • Able to participate in discussions with Corporate Development, Legal, Treasury and Tax and Valuation Specialist teams on special transactions

  • Assist with the regulatory compliance reporting of deal transactions (trade filings, etc.)

  • Understand legal and tax related deal structures and summarize key deal terms critical to reporting

  • Provide support for public filing footnote disclosures for significant transactions

  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts using both Excel and Blackline for the multinational company

  • Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, internal control procedures, and US GAAP

  • Work with internal and external auditors on document requests

  • Participate in additional accounting related projects as requested by management

Key Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, Accounting degree strongly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' accounting experience, with familiarity in the areas of acquisitions and divestitures

  • Experience working in a consumer packaged goods (CPG), fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and/or consumer durables industry strongly preferred

  • Solid understanding of financial reporting involving multi-currency consolidations a must

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel is a must, prior SAP, Blackline, Hyperion Financial Management experience is strongly preferred

  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a commitment to quality and integrity

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP

  • Ability to organize work to ensure accurate completion in a timely manner and multi-task

  • Operates autonomously and works well under pressure

  • Maintain organized and detailed files documenting accounting issues, processes, and procedures

  • Comfortable collaborating with finance department staff and other teams to support overall departmental goals, initiatives and directives

  • Motivated to expand job-related knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
