Job Purpose

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating the Shipping activities of the Distribution and Manufacturing facility, including the Replenishment Operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and prioritizes all shipping functions for finished goods.Coordinates and schedules all finished goods trailer trucks.

  • Manages the loading and distribution of all outgoing goods

  • Coordinates and verifies the accuracy of finished goods being shipped.Takes appropriate action to resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain the Case Pick and Replenishment Operation.

  • Assists in maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy and takes appropriate steps to maintain a high level of quality, ensuring that all outbound shipments meet the specifications and requirements of customers.

  • Develop and maintain open communication with freight lines and customers in coordinating pickup and delivery appointment.

  • Responsible for management of employees to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.

  • Responsible for the initial training of Shipping personnel.

  • Monitors and manages all aspects of employee performance.

  • Controls and/or reduces cost and drives productivity within the department.

  • Performs activities of associates, as necessary, including operation of forklift truck.

  • Continuously improve the department through development of new processes.

  • Have an active role in the companies’ continuous improvement program to achieve plans for future growth within the company.

  • Maintain an effective safety awareness program, including regular departmental safety meetings.Provide timely written feedback on any injuries or accidents and make recommendations for precluding recurrence.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment for all team members.

  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation and Logistics.In lieu of degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with five years of relevant related experience.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in warehouse/transportation operations.

  • Minimum three years in a supervisory position.

  • Minimum three years’ experience operating material handling equipment including forklift truck, pallet jack, and other standard equipment.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Spanish.

  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.

  • Skilled in use of PC operation for the use of reports, procedures, and data gathering i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook; able to type at least 35 WPM.

  • Skilled in use and knowledge of a Warehouse Management System (WMS).

  • Demonstrated leading abilities to motivate, train and provide feedback to team members.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs (8, 10, 12 hour shifts)

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • While performing work in a warehouse environment employee will be exposed to moving equipment; dust, fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather and moderate to loud noise levels.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must wear and use proper PPE in the warehouse and manufacturing areas.
