Newell Brands Associate Manager, Sales Planning in Huntersville, North Carolina

Position Title: Associate – Sales Planning

Location: Atlanta or Huntersville

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Sales Planning

The role of this job is to commercialize sales and marketing programs within assigned channels or customers of distribution and to identify channel-specific business-building opportunities; work cross functionally to deliver sales and profit results through commercialization of the overarching brand/trade strategies to the customer/channel.

Specific Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Customer Planning andExecution

  • Contributes to theannual sales planning process relative to area of responsibility.

  • Partners with sales team to ensures plans arebuilt to meet division sales budget and trade spend guidelines.

  • Executes DSMP plans in assigned channels to meetdivision goals to align with brand and business unit strategic plans.

  • Maximizes new item launch plans in assignedchannel/customer base.

  • Supports critical internal and customer planninginitiatives including, but not limited tojoint business plans, and internal annual operating plan.

  • Plans trade spendstrategy to maximize ROI for both Newell and retail partners.

  • Quantifies andidentifies risks and opportunities to achieving sales budget.

  • Conducts situationassessments, utilizing internal and syndicated data sources.

  • Implements categorymanagement recommendations to optimize performance of shelf set or catalogspace, such as optimal SKU assortment, merchandising and shelf/ cataloglayout based on the DSMP.

  • Assists in theline/catalog review preparation process, collaborating with Sales and TradeStrategy / Brand Development. Workswith sales to drive pre-sell activity with customer, manage/driveexpectations, and establish mutual goals for the meeting.

Forecasting, Pricing,and Trade Fund Management

  • Manages Customer Monthlyand out months/quarter internal sales calls.

  • Generates promotionalP&L’s to ensure sales and profit metrics are being achieved.

  • Prepares product mixrecommendations.

  • For theretail partner/at the customer level,

  • For thebusiness profitability

  • Routes approvals oftrade expenditures.

  • Ensures internal tradespend controls are being adhered to drive compliance of trade program.

  • Understands what tradefunds or customer program spend is available or needed for programming.

  • Analyzesthe effectiveness of trade spend within area of responsibility.

  • Tracks compliance tobudgeted trade rates for assigned channel/customers

  • Tracks, analyzes, andreports potential impact of pricing exceptions on channel / region.

  • Tracks and analyzesNWL brand and competitive price within the marketplace.

Market, Shopper, andChannel / End-User Insights

  • Compiles market,shopper / end-user, and channel knowledge gaps and creates a summary forthe business to review.

  • Manages timelines anddeliverables for all line/catalog reviews.

  • Compiles profiles ofcompetitors and channel customers

  • Gathers competitiveand marketplace intelligence and share with the organization, ultimatelyconstructing a competitive profile and comp shop analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (emphasis inbusiness/marketing or related field), MBA or other advanced degree highlypreferred

  • 3-5 years of experience working with aleading CPG company (Trade Marketing, Sales, Finance, or related position)

  • Possessescreative problem solving skills to overcome barriers and closeopportunities.

  • Fluentin English (verbal and written)

  • Experience in operating withincross-functional teams

  • Ability to think creatively, generateoptions, build consensus, and execute.

  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and afast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

  • Aptitude for both strategic thinkingand detail-oriented operational management.

  • Experience with a CPG or durablecompany, ideally in channel management, brand management, insights. or sales.

  • Developing a multi-year plan orapproach and executing at least one year of the plan.

  • Leading a team of people to achieveresults.

  • Collaborating with partners and otherorganizations to achieve results

  • Up to25% travel may be required
