Newell Brands Assistant Manager, Market Intelligence in Huntersville, North Carolina

Newell Brands’ Market Intelligence team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as the Assistant Manager of Market Intelligence.

The Market Intelligence team within the Home & Commercial Business Unit is responsible for providing a nuanced and thorough perspective on the commercial vertical and home improvement markets through a Rubbermaid Commercial Products lens. We serve as the external stakeholder subject matter experts and are tasked with identifying and communicating deep insights that help shift buyers’ perspective around the product value equation and our products’ impact on the end-customer’s business performance.

The Assistant Manager will primarily be responsible for supporting insights research and story building for commercial verticals (Healthcare, Education, Commercial Office, etc.), working closely with the Sr. Manager of Market Intelligence, as well as various other cross-functional teams.

What we do:

  • Maintain a relentless curiosity around understanding the frontline labor markets, proactively seeking out and piecing together emerging trends, leading indicators, and other context

  • Track existing and emerging trends across vertical markets to understand key purchasing departments, their labor force, and their known and unknown product needs

  • Analyze operating models within our vertical markets to identify key financial variables linked to our product categories and their end-users

  • Track, analyze, and glean insights from corporate earnings calls, analyst reports, news outlets, industry organizations, & third-party market research providers

  • Translate insights into actionable, cohesive presentations and market briefs shared and/or presented across the organization

  • Collaborate with sales, brand marketing, & brand activation on a wide range of initiative including, but not limited to, active selling opportunities, new product innovation, brand marketing campaigns, and business development opportunities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research: You enjoy independently researching problems and identifying resources that help you build proof points and evidence that support your case.The quality of the insights we produce first and foremost relies on the quality and depth of the research we conduct.

  • Story Building: You enjoy and excel at translating qualitative and quantitative research into a clear and convincing story for a variety of audiences.Strong writing, information presentation, and verbal delivery skills are critical.

  • Consultant Mindset: You maintain a strategic point of view and are comfortable advising directly on business decisions relating to the vertical markets we follow. The goal is to communicate actionable insights and strategic implications.

  • Business and Economic Analysis: You enjoy tracking the markets, stay up to date on the news, and have an interest in what drives business performance.Having a strong pulse-check on the overall market and an existing understanding of how they function is preferred.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You are comfortable presenting in front of large audiences and Sr. Leadership and understand the importance of tailoring your message, content, and style to the audience.Successful candidates will gain a unique perspective around the full scope of the Home & Commercial Unit’s business and go-to-market model with high levels of collaboration across functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-3 years of experience in corporate research, financial markets, consulting, consumer insights, or a similar field (via direct experience or course work)

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and conducting in-depth deskside research

  • Strategic thinker who looks beyond the obvious to find innovative solutions to problems and gaps in the market that others miss

  • Experience researching, structuring, and delivering persuasive arguments through case study analysis, work experience, or other academic deliverables

  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, and writing skills, experience designing and building corporate-level presentations a plus

  • Adept written and verbal communicator with a high degree of social confidence in front of large audiences and senior leaders

  • High levels of attention to detail and ability to organize, categorize, and document large volumes of research in a clear and logical format
