Newell Brands Marketplace Manager in Hoboken, New Jersey

Position Title: Manager, Marketplace

Reports to: Senior Manager, Marketplace

Location: Hoboken, NJ

The Manager, Marketplace will be responsible for sales and strategy development through the analysis, negotiation, and management of key accounts within a new growth area for Newell Brands. Responsible for developing expertise in company presence across the largest US Marketplaces, identifying new opportunities, and using data to influence internal and external leaders in support of effective plans of action (this person loves data!)

The Manager, Marketplace will own relationships with our biggest 3 rd party distributors, and track to goals that encompass sales, strategy, analytics, and negotiations.


  • Opportunity discovery: Become the expert in Newell’s marketplace position through cross-functional team exposure, access to new datasets, and by processing insights from tests of your own design. Initial focuses/timeline may include:

  • Seller strategies to solve SKU-level misalignment/issues (ex: create 1st party vs 3rd party recommendations for entire brands in 2-3 weeks)

  • Assortment and pricing strategies: Reduce missed sales from pricing effects, cannibalization, uncoordinated marketing efforts, or partnership misalignment

  • Fulfillment strategies: Reduce stock issues and capture efficiencies across various shipping methods

  • Coordinate with brand teams: Process discovered insights into recommendations for leadership approval. Become an expert at packaging learnings to secure quick alignment and implementation

  • Plan building and execution: Work alongside the Senior Manager on final implementation plans, owning decisions for accounts that you manage

  • Display/develop bias for action, clear direction, and project management skills

  • Hit aligned sales targets to become one of the largest growth engines for Newell. The main levers to achieve will be:

  • Negotiating around tough partnership decisions

  • Streamlining cross-functional management

  • Getting solutions to “fully ramped” as early as possible

  • Incorporate feedback and scale: Continue to analyze Newell’s position across item selection, pricing, and operations to ensure that new strategies are driving target growth.

  • Collect data continuously: Continue to be the expert on new 3P opportunities

  • Manage creative projects alongside a small team: Own strategic priorities while getting to test with other experts

Ways of working:

  • Partners closely w/ Division Leadership early on, then manages dependencies through execution

  • Updates Sr. Manager on progress and incorporates feedback into direction

  • Negotiates with key distributors, e-commerce platforms, and advertising/media agents

Potential Projects:

  • Implement 3 rd party partnerships to combat issues stemming from traditional sales channels

  • Contribute to Newell’s overall channel strategy/guidance with input on selection, pricing, distribution, and promotions across Amazon, Walmart, Target, and more

  • Create scalable program to reduce inventory and operational inefficiencies

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, E-Commerce,or equivalent

  • MBA preferred
