Reports to: Senior Manager, S&OP Process and Technology, Newell Supply Chain
The Manager, S&OP Process and Technology participates on Newell’s strategic leadership team of preeminent experts for all aspects of integrated business planning. Through a next generation demand driven approach, this leader helps advance the company’s strategic imperatives to deliver margin expansion and to improve service to exceed customer expectations. The Manager, S&OP Process and Technology is a critical member of a team of experts dedicated to the Newell Business Units within North America and supports global geographies to develop and advance the integrated planning strategy. This team is responsible for supporting and setting the agenda for all our business’ leadership teams to bring together their forecasting, demand and supply planning, and executive review. The goal is to coordinate sales and operations planning across business functions, so they are all aligned on updated forecast that leads to a sales plan, production plan, inventory plan, customer lead time (backlog) plan, new product development plan, strategic initiative plan and resulting financial plan.
The Manager, S&OP Process and Technology executes the E2E Planning team’s mission to deliver industry leading E2E planning capabilities enhancing forecast accuracy and optimizing inventory to ultimately deliver improved revenue.
This role expands and accelerates the E2E Planning Team’s foundation of people, process, analytics and technology in the following key areas:
(1) Assess and Build Capabilities of All S&OP participants
(2) Develop/Deploy Standard and Effective S&OP Processes
(3) Enable Full Adoption of Data Science Statistical Forecasting and Inventory Tools
(4) Deliver a Roadmap of Success for SAP IBP.
Drivethe execution of S&OP capability building projects and implementation ofprocess and best practices in conjunction with Business Unit leadership teams.
Contribute directly to the maximization of S&OP metrics(forecast accuracy, attainment and inventory turn) and demonstrate correlationto business performance by:
Identifying and deploying repeatableS&OP processes and best practices across our Business Units.
Demonstrating the business impact andbenefit of S&OP improvements.
Delivering sophisticated S&OPdiagnostic tools to facilitate analysis, decision making and to improve supplychain key performance metrics.
Identify & developstrategies & best practices as primary routes to drive & sustainimprovement.
Helping to shape the design of datacollection, insights, modeling and reporting processes to improve managementand decision making, in close partnership with Data Science.
Participate in Communities of Practice (Performance ImprovementKnowledge Teams) for S&OP as the route to identify needs, define solutionsand craft paths for execution to meet Newell’s goals.
Drive strategies, methodologies andbest practices that ensure excellence in S&OP – including scenario planningand revenue/cost projection.
Support the creation and dissemination of a Newell Brands playbookfor S&OP with process definition, relevantexamples, templates to ensure full transparency of best practice ways ofworking.
Ensure full adoption and on-going refinement of PowerBI reportingtools in conjunction with Data Science and IT.
In partnership with the Demand Planning Team, Supply Planning Team,IT and IBP Business Integration, drive the assigned Business Unitimplementation and refinement of the S&OP elements of SAP IBP (IntegratedBusiness Planning) to ensure complete alignment within the business teams.
In partnership with the Demand Planning Team and Supply PlanningTeam, lead the assigned Business Unit implementation and refinement of anindustry leading, global S&OP process to ensure optimal decision making.
Maintain transparency of S&OP performance with the overallorganization and ensure delivery of performance results.
Develop detailed project plans to achieve project objectiveswithin or across assigned Business Units.
Collaborate with cross-functional project team members to ensuredelivery of project milestones and achieve expected productivity objectives.
Document project deliverables and develop training materials foruse in educating assigned Business Units or Newell Supply Chain (NSC) teammembers.
Own the skill assessment, training andeducation of assigned Business Units associates to build overall S&OPcapability.
The successful candidate will be an established practitioner with a proven track record of delivering results within the End-to End Supply Chain with specific emphasis on S&OP management. The successful candidate must be technically competent in supply chain and possess solid business acumen. The candidate must have experience successfully leading change and creating buy-in for complex initiatives. This person should be collaborative, hands-on and comfortable with tactical execution while working on projects of strategic importance.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations research, Business or related field or equivalent work experience, MBA preferred
5-8 years of experience in Supply chain or Operations management
Exposure to Supply Chain systems including but not limited to SAP, Oracle, JDE, SAS, and Manugistics.
3+ plus years SAP - APO (Advance Planning and Optimization) experience, APO Process knowledge, SAP IBP S&OP experience preferred
Experience creating and developing functional specifications
Strong business process knowledge of S&OP, demand planning, supply planning and inventory management, in the distribution and manufacturing environment
Strong Character – ability to champion the right decision in difficult situations
Advanced Excel skills (Look up & Reference Tables, Pivot Tables, financial and logical formulas skills essential)
Intermediate level skills developing presentations in MS PowerPoint
Ability to work with and connect with all levels of associates
Strong planning, communication & organizing skills
Initiative & follow-up, including a strong sense of autonomy
Strong analytical approach to problem solving and solution development
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
Ability to travel up to 50%
