Newell Brands Associate Manager, Channel Development in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary:

The role of Associate Manager, Channel Development is to help with the development of new business within Newell’s segments. This position will work with cross functional segment resources including Category Strategy, Customer Planning, Category Development and Brand Management teams to develop compelling customer offers that result in new customer distribution. The Associate Manager, Channel Development will serve as single point of contact with Center of Excellence (COE) New Business Development team to enable Newell to improve brand availability to more customers and channels.  

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Channel Development team to help develop and implement effective channel sales strategies to build pipeline of compelling product offerings that align to our customer’s vision and drive distribution in underdeveloped channels for retailers.

  • Helps prepare materials for the reviews of Big Bets \ incremental opportunities and significant investment proposals with Brand Marketing and COE partners that will advance mutually beneficial Newell priorities with customers.

  • Captures and summarizes customer and sales feedback to inform Innovation execution and future Innovation launches.

  • Maintains a high-level understanding of customer line review cycles and represents the voices of the customer internally and the voice of the customer externally with Brand partners to ensure the right product innovation tracks closely with retailer timelines and go to market strategies.

  • Partner with cross functional project management to ensure innovation preparation and timelines are aligned with strategic customers.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape and market dynamics to help identify new opportunities and potential areas of growth.

  • Collaborate closely with Brands, Field Customer and New Business Development teams on untapped Where to Play and How to Win opportunities.

  • Leverages internal resources (Category Development, Brand Marketing, Brand Finance) to ensure opportunities are “pitch ready” for Sales in the new business development pipeline.

  • Innovation Review (IR)- Participates in monthly Innovation Review, providing Brand partners summary of customer needs and feedback.

  • Supports Field Teams by providing Innovation Funnel “previews” with key target customers (i.e., Club) to capture customer feedback on color, material, finish, and to drive customer acceptance and ownership of Funnel ideas.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; required

  • 3+ years of experience with a CPG or durable company, ideally in channel management, brand management, insights or sales, preferably with retail/ mass channel

  • Demonstrated experience managing a minimum or $10-20M book of business

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization with demonstrated ability to partner with multiple teams to achieve results.

  • US retail customer knowledge

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience working with syndicated POS and Panel Data

  • Ability to influence different cross functional partners

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
