Newell Brands Associate Electrical Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

Newell Brands is searching for a highly motivated Associate Electrical Engineer to organize and develop embedded hardware, improve and update current PCBAs, test for product performance and compliance under the guidance of Senior Engineers. This position will work on new product development (NPD) and existing products. The role of an Associate Electrical Engineer will assist in the engineering efforts on NPD, assist in the transformation of Industrial Design concepts into functional and manufacturable products, while following Newell’s Product Development Process, ensure the product meets or exceeds expectations from a cost, timing, and specification standpoint, and work effectively with other disciplines including Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.

General Responsibilities

  • PCBA design/development/prototyping

  • Assist engineers to bring up reference boards or prototype hardware and troubleshoot early integration issues

  • Perform bench level testing with basic electrical lab bench equipment

  • Plan and estimate development activities on an individual level and coordinate efforts with other teams

  • Work with outside agencies to comply with industry standards

  • Interface with internal customers and other design engineers required throughout the product development cycle and follow on product support.

  • Ongoing investigation of the latest component technology to meet the goals of continuous quality and cost improvements.

  • Coordinate with R&D to develop test programs, testing, technical documentation, and correspondence with internal and external sources.

  • Report on project status in team meetings

  • Cross collaborate with engineering teams, test teams, customer support teams, and factory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline

  • 0-2 years in related field

  • Demonstrates knowledge of problem-solving techniques and methodologies

  • Demonstrates basic understanding of applicable manufacturing processing

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and project management skills

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills-verbal and written

  • Demonstrates ability to perform in a team environment

  • Strong knowledge of bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART and SDIO

  • A working knowledge of embedded hardware (digital, analog, RF) and previous experience of bare metal applications

  • Understanding of SoCs, integrating hardware and software applications

  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub, software configuration management and tracking tools

  • Fundamental PCBA design understanding
